Dad sneakers are arguably the most polarising trend of 2018. The big, chunky shoes that are reminiscent of the late ’80s and ’90s made a comeback towards the end of 2017 when brands like Nike relaunched their 1997 Air Max 97 sneakers. Then, Vetements collaborated with Reebok, Balenciaga dropped it’s Triple S sneakers and Fila came alive again with the re-release of the Mindblower sneakers.
As with every trend though, it goes through stages. And the latest iteration of dad sneakers is one we can totally get on board with. With 2019 on the horizon, the ugly shoes are entering a futuristic phase. And we’re into it. A bit more polished than the original dad shoes — these space-like sneakers are like little launch pads for your feet. We mean that in the best way possible.
